Check Mate

Note this excerpt from my earlier post today,  Fisher, Fischer, Vischer:
1993Searching for Bobby FischerVinnie
The etymology of the surname Fischer is "fisherman" and so another addition to the "Fish Theme" pattern-cluster.  The Bobby Fischer is reference to real life notable chess champion:
The key word is "chess".  At this moment, "chess" means something to me personally.  Let me explain: my partner Cath is a carpenter and so she brings home a lot of scrap pieces that we burn.  Now over the years I've had to burn some pieces that seem to me such a waste-- they have so much character (see selection at right).  And so a few days ago I informed Cath... and taught her what to look for, in regards to the "keepers".  My intent is to make them into "chess" pieces.

A selection of black and white chess pieces on a chequered surface. So what do you think... good idea?!  What I know now is that the inner twin world inspired this thought because it's "wright" down their "Chess" pattern-cluster alley!!

So let's see if there's more.  Note from the "Chess" wiki page:
Note from the wiki pages of those mentioned:
  • Wilhelm (later WilliamSteinitz (May 17, 1836 – August 12, 1900)
  • Paul Charles Morphy (June 22, 1837 – July 10, 1884)
  • Howard Staunton (1810 – 22 June 1874)
It's easy to pinpoint the common ground with the 2nd and 3rd-- Staunton died on Morphy's birthday hence generating a "June 22" pattern-cluster .   As for Steinitz's birthday, note this excerpt from my earlier post today, Sick Pope, War Pope
  • Maldwyn "Mal" Pope (born 18 May 1960
As for Mal, his birthday connects with Rob MacGregors birthday of May 16,
So the cluster expands into a
  • "May 16, 17, 18/ Date Sequence" pattern-cluster.
Other notable persons mentioned on the Chess wiki page:
  • Emanuel Lasker (December 24, 1868 – January 11, 1941)
  • Viswanathan "Vishy" Anand (born 11 December 1969)
  • Nicholas II or Nikolai II (18 May [O.S. 6 May] 1868 – 17 July 1918)
  • Machgielis "Max" Euwe (May 20, 1901 – November 26, 1981)
  • Anatoly  Karpov (born May 23, 1951)
  • Richard Réti (28 May 1889 – 6 June 1929)
  • Mikhail Botvinnik (August 17 [O.S. August 4] 1911 – May 5, 1995)
  • Frank James Marshall (August 10, 1877 – November 9, 1944)
  • Vera Frantsevna Menchik (16 February 1906 – 27 June 1944)
  • Mikhail Tal ( 9 November 1936 – 28 June 1992)
  • Viktor Lvovich Korchnoi[3] (23 March 1931 – 6 June 2016)
  • Benjamin Franklin (January 17, 1706 [O.S. January 6, 1705][1] – April 17, 1790)
  • Robert James "BobbyFischer (March 9, 1943 – January 17, 2008)
Note this next excerpt :
I watched the film not that long ago, note from its wiki page:
Distributed byBleecker Street
Release date
  • September 11, 2014 (TIFF)
One of the cast in particular stands out:
It's the "wat" in "Watson" that connects to Rob MacGregor re my November 6, 2016 post Rob's Big So W-Hatt (Wellington Part 73), note this excerpt
  •  2000 – Ion Rațiu, Romanian journalist and politician (b. 1917)
The name "Ion" has that crypto/electro-watt feel to it... Indeed!!

  • -Ion Rațiu ( 6 June 1917 – 17 January 2000)
I'm reminded now of the famous Thomas Watson, assistant to Alexander Graham Bell, note from his wiki page:
  • Thomas Augustus Watson (January 18, 1854 – December 13, 1934)
So we have a "January 17(x3), 18" pattern-cluster.... to name butt one!!
