Wikipedia’s Deaths in
- Bernard Pivot, 89, French journalist (Le Figaro) and talk show host (Bouillon de culture), chairman of the Académie Goncourt (2014–2020), cancer.
What struck me, was his surname being an actual word, and so an addition to the “Name that’s a Word” pattern cluster.
Note the following definitions of pivot:
- shaft or pin on which something turns
- a person, thing, or factor having a major or central role, function, or effect
- a key player or position
- to adapt or improve by adjusting or modifying something (such as a product, service, or strategy)
Bernard Pivot (5 May 1935 – 6 May 2024)
He had passed away one day after his birthday, and so an addition to the “Off By One” pattern cluster. What strikes me about May 5th, is that May is also the 5th month, so 5/5. Because of this, and on May 5th, on perusing the list of notable deaths, I was surprised that nothing stood out. That May 5th is now front and centre,…pivotal…, and considering the word “pivot”, I take this to mean that we need to pivot our back to Wikipedia’s deaths in 2024 site, and check out those listed under May 5th, keeping in mind, that this time, we now have something to go by— since patterns are a big part of the inner twin worlds scheme of things, I intend to narrow my search to any of those listed whose surname is also a “word”, and so we arrive at only one:
- Bernard Hill, 79, English actor (The Lord of the Rings, Titanic, Boys from the Blackstuff).
- Bernard Hill (17 December 1944 – 5 May 2024)
Whoa!! Hill has the same first name as Pivot— Bernard!! Bernard in origin means “bear heart” or “brave heart”. Twin things cropping up like this is meaningful, and so we now have a “Bernard(x2)” pattern cluster in the works. This is a definite twin heads up!! A prompt for us to pivot now to Wikipedia’s page on notable persons named “Bernard”. The list of course is pretty long, so I’ll limit my search to the first Bernard that crops up whose surname is a word:
- Bernard Butler (born 1970), English musician
- Bernard Joseph Butler (born 1 May 1970)
That he was born on May 1 (aka “May one” being a cryptic “May won”) is meaningful in a personals sense, given that my first name is “MAY”!! Another prompt, so this time I’m going back through the 2024 notable deaths list to locate all those whose last name is a word, beginning with May 1:
- Richard E. Cook, Richard Ernest Cook (September 7, 1930 – May 1, 2024) 93, American Mormon general authority, member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy (1997–2001), CFO of Perpetual Education Fund (2001–2012).[118]
- Josh Baker, 20, Josh Oliver Baker (16 May 2003 – 2 May 2024) English cricketer (Worcestershire).[97]
- Jim Mills, 57, James Mills (December 18, 1966 – May 3, 2024) American banjo player (Kentucky Thunder), heart attack
- Johnnie Walker (John Walker; 3 September 1944 – 6 May 2024) 79, Australian racing driver (Australian Formula 2, Formula 5000)
Note the “baker and cook”… hmmm, and the cryptic “jams mills”. So if the mills are jammed, the bakers and cooks are also jammed!? Also, traditionally, in a wealthy household the bakers and cooks were women while men were butlers,… and without food to feed the wealthy and the poorer masses, the Butlers would also starve. And do note the cryptic “butt” in “butler” (actually originates from the word “bottle”).
Interestingly enough, Google reveals that there is a notable Butler named “Bernard”, who was so rich and famous, that he is portrayed in two films. Note from his wiki page:
Bernard Lafferty (14 April 1945 – 4 November 1996) was an Irish butler and heir to American tobacco heiress and philanthropist, Doris Duke. Duke hired Lafferty in 1987 and named him the executor of her $1.2 billion estate six months prior to her death in October 1993.
The two films he is portrayed in:
- In 1999, Too Rich: The Secret Life of Doris Duke.
- In 2007, Bernard and Doris.
Now there are a number of clusters that emerge, but I’ll follow up on the one generated by the following info regarding two of the actresses who played the part of Doris Duke in the films:
- Lindsay Frost (born June 4, 1962[1])
- Susan Abigail Sarandon (born October 4, 1946)
As you can see, we have a 4th day cluster in the works, and given that Lafferty died on the 4th day, this is worth keeping track of. Of the others on the films wiki pages, the following add to the cluster:
- Jonathan Stewart Cavendish (born 4 February 1959)
- Mark Kassen (born October 4, 1971)
