US Dead Heads (Part 4: Iron Tail)

Iron Tail (c. 1842 – May 29, 1916) was an Oglala Lakota
Chief and a star performer with
Buffalo Bill's Wild West.

This is the only US coin that is obviously an addition to the “Wild West Theme” pattern cluster.  On investigating further, I learned that many objected to the coin, butt the then United States Secretary of the Treasury,  Franklin MacVeagh decided to issue the coins despite the objections.  Thank you for that Mr. MacVeagh.  Note from his wiki page:

Franklin MacVeagh (November 22, 1837  July 6, 1934)

TODAY is the anniversary of his death!!
