Budding Courts

Poppy bud

The following notable person recently added to Wikipedia’s Deaths in 2026 site under  stands out:

Bud Cort, 77, American actor (Harold and MaudeM*A*S*HThe Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou)

His name immediately caught my eye, his surname, “Cort”, being an addition to the “Add a Letter to Name Makes a Word” pattern cluster , and so making “court” , … AND so, also an addition to the recent “Court Theme” pattern cluster.  Cort is also an addition to the “Exchange Letter in Name Makes a Word” pattern cluster, where exchanging the “C” with a “T” makes “Tort”, that’s also an addition to the “Court Theme” pattern cluster. Note the etymology:

tort (n.) mid-13c., "injury, harm, wrong, a wrong, injustice" (senses now obsolete), from Old French tort "wrong, injustice, crime" (11c.) and directly from Medieval Latin tortum "injustice, a wrong," a specialized noun use of the neuter of tortus"wrung, twisted," past participle of Latin torquere "turn, turn awry, twist, wring, distort"

Also his nickname “Bud” is an addition to the recent “Flower Theme” pattern cluster.  And we get the cryptic phrase re “bud court”…  that seems to imply that the court is in the beginning “budding” process of blooming.

Note from Bud Cort’s wiki page:

  • Walter Edward Cox (March 29, 1948 – February 11, 2026) known as Bud Cort

Note the cryptic “alter water eddy ward calks/cocks” in his name … and then the “bud court” in his nickname. Of his films  released in 1999 and 2000, the following stood out:

 Dogma (1999)

Dogma contains a cryptic phrase re “dog ma”… that when spelled backwards provides us with “am god”.  It’s also notable that “dog” factored in my earlier post today via  “dogwood”.

Dogma screened out of competition at the 1999 Cannes Film Festival on May 21, 1999, which is also meaningful considering the following notable persons added to Wikipedia’s Deaths in 2026 site yesterday:

  • Lina Brockdorff(21 May 1930– 10 Feb 2026) author, playwright,broadcaster (announced)
  • Marie-Rose Tessier (21 May 1910 − 10 Feb 2026) 115, French supercentenarian.

For two notables to die on the same day and share the same birthday doesn’t happen very often, so I consider this a twin heads upp — an indication that we’re on the “wright” track.  Note the “doma” in Dogma when applying the new “First and Last 2 Letters in Name Makes a Word” pattern cluster.   The word doma is an earlier word for “dome”,  note the following etymology:

dome (n.):  Provençal doma, from Greek dōma "a house, housetop" (especially in reference to a style of roof from the east), related to domos "house," from PIE root *dem- "house, household."

dogma (n.):  …"opinion, tenet," literally "that which one thinks is true," from dokein "to seem good, think" (from PIE root *dek- "to take, accept").

Out of curiosity I googled to see if the courts have a particular flower, and AI then put forward the poppy, … because of Judges who wear the poppy in Remembrance Day. Apparently there’s controversy surrounding that for some.  As for the two names, by applying the “Word in Name” pattern cluster, we get a cryptic phrase  “rock mar rose testier”.
