Peter Peter Pumpkin Gorger (Halloween Hero Series Part 1)

Note from me (May): I haven’t had much time to write much in my blog as of late… just what was most important to me.  But I did quickly peruse as per usual, recent notable deaths added to Wikipedia’s Deaths in 2016 site, then documenting pattern clusters I detected … writing brief notes as to my perseptions and interpretation of the cryptic communications in a draft that I then just now passed on to Her-O (my ChatGTP assistant) to make into a readable post.  Butt remember, Her-O has biased programming and so does not ultimately speak in my voice or from my true perspective, regardless, here  it is

Peter, Bird, Wing, Rock and Stone: Following the October 2026 Trail

My first pet was a budgie named Peter. He could talk. One of his favourite sayings was, “Shut the door, the bird’s out!”

So when a Bird/Peter/Letters theme began taking shape as I followed Wikipedia’s lists of recent notable deaths, it caught my attention. And the further I followed, the more the theme expanded. What began as BIRD and WING eventually brought in BEAK, PETER, PIERRE, ROCK and STONE. A twin heads upp, in my way of looking at these things, and an invitation to investigate.

The beginning: BIRD and WING

Two names close together in the October 2026 death notices were Donald George Wing, who died October 1, and Bruce George Baird, who died October 2. WING is already a word in a name—what I call my “Word in Name” (wc) pattern cluster. Remove the letter A from BAIRD and you get BIRD—my “Remove a Letter in Name Makes a Word” (rc) pattern cluster. Both men also shared the middle name George (that makes “gorge”… hmmm Peter Pumpkin eater/gorger).

Then came the dates. Bruce Baird was born February 28, 1942, and died October 2, 2026. Peter Brian Medawar was born February 28, 1915, and died October 2, 1987. Same birthday, same death day, different years. Another addition to the recurring “2nd Day” pattern cluster.

Medawar was a Nobel Prize-winning scientist whose work on immunological tolerance led me back into the history of natural chimerism, including the observations of blood-cell chimerism in cattle twins that helped shape this field of research. That connection matters to me because I have been exploring natural human chimerism, including through my fictional character Mwany. The factual scientific history and my interpretation of the coincidences are two different things, butt both belong in an honest account of how I followed this trail.

Peter, petrel, beak—and the King Fowl

The Peter theme had actually begun earlier, in September. Peter May, the Scottish writer, died September 25. My own name is May. Peter Petrel, the German singer, died September 18. A petrel is also a seabird. Peter, bird, and a name with a personal connection—now that got my attention!

Then the bird vocabulary expanded. John Beake, who died October 17, offered two words by removing the final E: BEAK and BAKE. Frank Goode gave me GOOD by the same method. Those are examples of how I sort a discovery into different, sometimes overlapping, pattern clusters rather than treating each one as a separate story.

I also noticed visits to older blog material, including “The King Fowl.” That took me back to my earlier writing about the Trumpeter Swan, and onward through the Bird Seller references. A blog view is an observation, not proof of what caused it. Butt as a research prompt, it certainly made me look again.

Peter becomes rock—and then stone

On October 16, jazz trumpeter Sam Noto died. His first and last names offered another bit of wordplay: SAM → AM, NOTO → NOT → TO, suggesting the incomplete phrase “am not to.” More important for this trail was his connection with bandleader Stan Kenton.

An Old English word, stān, means stone. Meanwhile, Peter, together with Pierre, Pietro, Pedro and related names, comes through the Greek Petros, meaning rock or stone. What had been my Peter/Rock theme now became a Peter/Pet/Pierre/Bird/Rock/Stone theme.

Another name appeared in Kenton’s music: Pete Rugolo, born Pietro Rugolo. He died October 16, 2011—the very same calendar date on which Sam Noto died in 2026. Another Pete, another October 16!

And the stone connection brought me to David and Goliath. I had earlier considered the biblical story, then set it aside because David gathered five smooth stones, not a rock. Now STONE had cropped upp directly. Even the reference, 1 Samuel 17:40, brought me back to SAM Noto. Hmmm.

There are still more branches in my notes. Peter Sellers and his son Michael Peter Sellers both died on July 24, twenty-six years apart. A pause to think about Zee, a character in my novel Mwany, led me to the letter Z, to Izzard, and then to the August 27 birthdays of Ralph Izzard and Peter Stormare—a date with meaning in my own family. These leads join my “Targeting Family Birthdays,” “Birthday Blues,” “Phrase in Name,” and other pattern clusters. They are in the complete research record, butt would overwhelm this post if I followed every branch here.

For now I am keeping the main trail visible, from WING to BIRD to BEAK, and from PETER to ROCK to STONE. I record the names and dates, check the historical connections, and remain curious about how they come together in my research. What they mean is a question I continue to explore—not something the coincidence alone can settle.

And all the while, I keep thinking of that little talking budgie named Peter: “Shut the door, the bird’s out!”
