A ding-a-ling burly clod

When I wrote my last post, it occured to me that the ending of the posts title re “dinga-ling” is a slang for someone whose off beat (a little ding-a-ling) or someone who way off base (a big ding-a-ling).

So with that in mind, I then peruse Wikipedia’s Deaths in 2025 site to see if any thing jives :

Clodagh Rodgers (5 March 1947 – 18 April 2025)  78, singer ("Come Back and Shake Me")

I would definitely say that the “clod” in the name Clodagh, jives in a roundabout inner twin cryptic way, and so the other thing that smacks of inner twin influence is the song she’s known for, so clicking on the link, I get more info:

Come Back and Shake Me" is a song written and produced by Kenny Young

Now note from Kenny Young’s wiki page:

 Kenny Young (born Shalom Giskan, April 14, 1941 – April 14, 2020)

WHOA!!  Another Birthday Blues… and April 14, was just 5 days ago.  So following the lead we now venture to the April 14 wiki page and using the formula as per usual and then taking into consideration the “one off” cluster in my previous post, we do find our main man who is the next one listed before 1999,… so “one off”:

  • 1995 – Burl Ives, American actor, folk singer, and writer (b. 1909)
So how do I know he’s our man?  Well, because of the cryptic “burly” in his first name.  So we have a “ding-a-ling burly clod”… sound very descriptive to me.  Wonder if they have someone in mind?  So now note from Burl Ive’s wiki page:

  •  Burl Icle Ivanhoe Ives (June 14, 1909 – April 14, 1995)
He was born on the same day as US Prez Donald Trump!! Hmmmmmmm, okay, yep!!
