A prompt to bridge/investigate the gap.  Note from the October 19 wiki page using the formula :

Rob MacGregor’s birthday crops up yet again.

Note from The Deaths in 2018 site lists under October 18:

• Dick Slater (May 19, 1951 – October 18, 2018)67, American professional wrestler (WWF, UWF, WCW).^[11]
• Darren Stewart (17 May 1966 – 19 October 2018^[1]) 52, Australian soccer player (Newcastle Breakers FC, Johor) and manager (Maldives national team).^[12]

A “May 16, 17, __, 19/ Date Sequence” pattern-cluster.   A prompt to investigate the May 18 wiki page using the formula and taking into consideration the “one off” curve ball we arrive at:

2001 – Irene Hunt (May 18, 1907 – May 18, 2001) American author and illustrator (b. 1907)

It’s “timely” considering her surname Hunt, and the fact that we just drove over Hunter’s Mountain in CapeBreton before stopping the night in Baddeck.
