Fred Doty RIIP

The Deaths in 2014 lists under November 9 :

Fred Doty, 90, Canadian football player (Toronto Argonauts)

His surname stands out given the series of cryptic phrases re "do tie", "oh duty", "Y dote", "Y dot"  and my favorite: "dot the Y"... as opposed to "dot the i".  Think of it this way, the sound that the letter "Y" makes when saying it slow, is "OOI" and very close to "UI"... and when you think about it, the Y looks like a "V" or a "U" sitting on top an "I" (depending on the font style). Also interesting ... and likely meant to factor in, is that the Y looks a bit like a martini glass and with this in mind, if you "dot" the "i" in Y, this would be like adding the olive!! The etymology of olive (n.)  is where our world "oil" comes from.

Frederick Kenneth "Scooter" Doty (October 25, 1924 – November 9, 2014)

His birthday is an addition to the "Targeting Family Birthdays" pattern-cluster given that 3 of my life partners family members were born on this day... during different years!!!  Now that would be dotting the Y!!  Because his nickname was Scooter, I decided to visit the scooter's wiki page wiki page where I came across an assortment, both run by oil and other, note the following:

• Eccentric-hub scooter, a two-wheeled vehicle propelled by a bouncing rider

Now that's different... never heard of this before.  On the Eccentric-hub scooters wiki page I came across the following:

• Variants have been produced since the 1990s and called "whymcycle", by inventor/substitute teacher Peter Wagner.

Of course it's a play on "whimsical"... butt I can't help butt see "why my cycle".
