pop -v- bob

Yesterday one of my posts focussed on the fact that there were only 8 notable persons listed on Wikipedia’s Deaths in 2025 site under April 2nd.  Well, that’s not entirely true, I should have said that there were 8 who had Wikipedia pages, butt there was one other in the red category:

Miles Griffith [nl], 55, American jazz singer

And yes, the name “Miles” had significant inner twin cryptic meaning— synonymous with the 3+ “miles” high and thousands of miles wide of  ice during glacial episodes (the last episode/cycle being  about 12,000 — 15,000 years ago, that once covered much of Eurasia and North America, but now only exist in miniature versions to what they once were, at the north and south poles.

As for his surname, Griffith,  note the etymology

  • Origin: Welsh
  • Meaning: "Chief lord"
  • Etymology:  "Gruffudd", composed of "Grip(p)" ("strong grip") and "iud"("chief/lord").

I was also able to locate his Obituary:

May 13, 1969 – April 2, 2025

Highland Falls, NY

Note the cryptic communication in the listed place name re “highland falls” .  And yes, it’s true that as the  massive weight of glacial ice had pressed the land beneath it down, this caused an equal and opposite reaction— the glacier free land at the outer edges of the tectonic plate, had bowed upward.  Today these plates are reverting back in a process referred to as Isostatic Adjustment.  In the case of the land that had become depressed, it is rising, and in the case of the land that had risen aka “highland”, it is presently in the process of “falling”.  Now the experts don’t want to ring any alarm bells, and so they don’t say anything about the fact that this slow process is speeding up, and that if it continues, we can expect a sudden and devastating “pop”— final rise of the depressed land, followed with a “bob”:

bob(n.1): "act of suddenly jerking up and down," 1540s, from bob (v.1).
