Star in 2009

Given my previous “Starr” post, I recollected a memorable “star” pattern cluster post in 2009 (in my Toumai blog)  that I referred to as a synchronicity back then:

Cathy, Nicholas Culpeper and Synchronicity

Written By Cathy Bennett:

It’s Saturday, December -19-09 at the Ottawa Originals Craft show in Landsdowne Park Ottawa.
It was rather slow for a Saturday. A male customer approached me looking for any ornament that was star like. Well, May makes Christmas ornaments and a variety of stars and snowflakes. So I began. He wanted about 10 pieces not too expensive but like a memorial star. I showed him a solid star, a Bethlehem star, snowflakes shaped like stars and nothing was quite right. He said I will go get my wife. And he disappeared ( I was at the show all day by myself because May was sick with a cold). She magically showed up in the aisle and came into the booth.at the same time the man returned with his wife in tow.

I pushed sick May behind the counter because I had to pay attention to my return customer. The woman began to particularly explain to me how she had to have engraved on the stars, Michelle 2009. So I took her through the array of stars but there wasn’t quite the right one. So suddenly I thought of one more star. It was new in production and being a small booth we really hadn’t put it out there. So I said, “wait one more minute, I’ve got one more”, so I went down under the cupboards and pulled out this piece May designed just before we came to the show. There was just enough room for the engraving. While I was searching, May had engraved one of the smaller stars for the woman but it was a little too small but the ones I had found were just right.

So the woman said, “I want ten pieces engraved and I just have to tell you my sister Michelle died a month ago but I want to have a little memorial piece to give out to my families and her daughters, in memory of such a wonderful woman. Well, May and I and the woman all welled up with tears and she told us she had lost her to lymphoma. At that she paid for the pieces and said, “take your time engraving, we’ll leave and come back to pick up the pieces”.
As May was engraving the stars I said, “do you think we should tie a red ribbon on each?”
May said, “Oh yeah, we have to do this really special.”
The couple popped back and I said, “Oh, I’m sorry, the pieces aren’t quite ready, we are tying on some ribbon”. You could see the woman was dearly touched and she said they were discussing on what they would do with the stars and said, “Take your time, we’ll be back”.

Well it was getting close to closing time and I said to May, I hope they didn’t leave without their pieces. One minute before closing they appeared. She was so thankful, she said, “I just have to show you something”. It was an obituary laminate notice that she flashed in front of me. It read, “Michelle Payette”. I almost fell backward into the next booth. I was speechless. The picture was the spit and image of my own son Gillman Payette’s Grand father.
I said, “Oh my god! That is my son’s last name, you cannot be related to Raymond and John Payette of Halifax?”

She said, “Oh my God?!” We both said we were getting shivers.

You could have knocked me over with a feather. She started to name off her relatives Louise, John, Bernard (her father), Raymond and Alphanse.

It was incredible; I related my connections to the family and hers and to my Gillman. It was too weird, we couldn’t believe it. We exchanged stories till half hour past closing time. It was amazing. We exchanged phone numbers and email, kissed and hugged.
Then they were gone with a vow to connect by email and plan to have dinner next year when we are once again in Ottawa. What an afternoon, I am still in shock.

Another funny thing, just this morning, May and I over daily rituals of coffee and crypt quote, something had triggered a pet name that Mrs. Payette (my son’s grandmother who passed away over 20 years ago) used to call my son as a boy, “Nicolas Colepepper”. Strange, that we would have a conversation regarding the Payette’s that very morning.

From May:
At my request, Cathy wrote the story above. You should understand that we are a couple thousand miles from home I had also asked if she would allow me to post the story on my group (to which she agreed).

After the 'meaningful coincidence', I specifically asked Cathy what she NOW now thought about Synchronicity. All she would say is that it’s definitely weird, but refuses to venture down any other possible meaning behind the ‘weirdness’.
From my point of view, Cathy is fearful. She is a sensitive person who views the world very silently and very intensely ... to a deep subconscious level which filters out into aspects of her being and life. Since our time as partners in life (17 years) began, Cathy has professed herself to be a staunch atheist. She could not understand religion and especially Christianity (she was not brought up with any religious influence). However, she also proffessed to believe in reincarnation. She told me that this had come about when her son Gillman, at a very young age had begun to question life (things like death and even suicide... at age 4). Cathy worried for him and thought it best that she ‘choose’ a belief system of sorts. So, she chose Reincarnation (to take away the sting of death I suppose) and passed this along to her son. She has also professed to me that she believes Gillman to be a very old soul. Of course when I came along, I recognized Gillman’s intelligence, but to me he was simply a boy- a very intelligent, scared little boy.

Since Dr. Brunet’s report, Cath has made it a point to now tell me that she really does not believe in reincarnation, that she had simply professed this because she thought it would help Gillman out. I think she is reacting according to what she now interprets as a 'new' danger out there... (perhaps she fears as I do- witch hunts taking on a new guise). I feel it very sad, Cath reminds me so much of my mother in personality it’s often frightening... I worry about what will happen to her if she retreats too far within herself and her fears. I would love her to be free from this kind of fear... I would love that everyone be free from this kind of fear—a fear that rapes and kills the spirit.
I had asked Cath yesterday morning what the name “Nicholas Colepepper” had meant to Ms. Payette? “Did you ask Mrs. Payette?” I queried, “because maybe it comes from a rhyme or historic character... usually things like this means something?” (such is my incessantly curious mind... not to mention that my synchronicity sense is tingling)
“No”, Cath had replied, “I never thought to ask, but you’re right, maybe it stems from somewhere other than just out of her head”.
So, I took it upon myself to sleuth and wiki found this site for me:
A very interesting read and from the world of Synchronicity for sure. Cathy may never accept any of this to be a gift from the world of Synchronicity let alone from a parallel world of inner conjoined twins and even if she did, given how she perceives our world (rightfully so) she may never voice it. Now THAT is what makes our existence extraordinarily sad.

Do we want this for our children... do we want their wings clipped so they never fly?

PS: Cath says she will make comment later to my blog site. I can't wait to see and hear her reaction to my find re: wiki's Nicholas Culpeper... and especially her reaction to the picture which I think looks and awful lot like her son Gillman... no kidding, just
