9/22 (Part 3, Half the Sky)

 Continuing on from my previous post, one portion of the tv series, Away that stood out to me the most was the character “Lu”, mainly because she’s in love with a woman, and because my life partner is a woman, we share this in common.   As well, the name of Lu’s love interest “Mei”, is pronounced the same as my name “May”!!!  In the show, the two women make a connection to a phrase, one that I’ve heard before— “women hold up half the sky”.  I find that its a quote from Mao Zedong, note from his wiki page:
