Alaska Quake

The earthquake in Alaska today is “timely” given my recent posts.  Investigating the Alaska wiki page, I first go to the History section and find:
William H. Seward, the United States Secretary of State, negotiated the Alaska Purchase (also known as Seward's Folly) with the Russians in 1867 for $7.2 million. 
The surname Seward contains a cryptic “see/sea ward”.  And this connects with the danger in the sea— the earthquake.  Note from his wiki page:
