My previous post title, Coming Around the Benz , peaked my curiousity. I chose the title because of the “Car Theme” pattern-cluster... and with “racing” also in mind. And because my inner twin played a part in influencing the title, I decided to play along further, and call this post, “Coming Down the Home Stretch”. First because it’s another racing saying as a car comes around the last bend of the race track to the final Home Stretch, and because it’s an addition to the recent “Down Theme” pattern-cluster. There were actually 8 in total, butt this guy stands out given that his name, Peter, means “rock/stone” in origin that in turn relates to “roads” and so an addition to the “Car Theme” pattern-cluster. As well, that he was a “clockmaker” stands out, given that “time” is important in world racing... and breaking records. Note from his wiki page:
- Peter Stretch (1670–1746), early American clockmaker
His date of death speaks ... cryptic volumes!!!
- Peter Stretch (October 14, 1670 – September 11, 1746)
