My partner Cathy and I were out to dinner with friends earlier this evening, and since we were on the subject of "near disasters and children", I asked Cathy to recount a certain episode concerning her son. And I bring this up now in this post now because the episode involves a "bat" and so an addition to the recent "Bat/Batt/Baht/Battle..." pattern-cluster, and so that it cropped up tonight is likely "timely"-- influenced by the inner twin mandate and so factoring into the cryptic communication that's happening in the moment. This is the story:
About 30 years ago Cathy was driving to a baseball game where she planned to meet up with her son Gillman and his father, Glen, who was looking after the busy little three year old, except that it was his turn at bat and so another team member was supposed to be watching out for Gillman.
Gillman was a bright little boy whose mind wasn't really on the game and so when he saw his mommy's truck coming down the road a ways, he made a mad dash, leaving the ball field as fast as his little legs could carry him. He proceeded to run into the road and stopping just beyond the middle, likely thinking that his mother could then just stop to pick him up. Butt Cathy who watched this transpire in front of her had to think fast given the danger she perceived her son to be in. She knew stopping suddenly would mean that the other vehicle behind her may simply try to go around her and then not seeing Gillman, run over him. So, while the truck was still going, Cathy opened the door, jumped out, and then ran to her son, scooping him up and running like the Dickens and ran like the dickens to safety. In the meantime, her truck kept going down the road until it overturned in the ditch.
Within seconds, the entire ball came to the truck, knowing that it was Cathy's and because there was no sign of her inside, they thought she might be underneath the truck so the team gathered together and LIFTED the truck, putting it back on its wheels. To everyone's relief Cathy came along with Gillman safely in her arms.So is there a moral that the inner twin world wants us to take from this?!
