As a followup to my previous post, Robert Treat Paine, signer of the Declaration of Independence was able to play a part in treating the "twin pain" experienced by his second son, Thomas, whose name happens to mean "twin". Note this excerpt from Thomas Paine's wiki page:
As to Thomas' "pain in the butt name doppleganger, Thomas Paine" note the two issues found on his wiki page as to his claim to fame:
he changed his name to that of his recently deceased older brother in 1801, in part as a tribute to his father and in part to avoid confusion with the more famous Thomas Paine, the revolutionary pamphleteer, who was unpopular at that timeThomas changed his name to Robert Treat Paine Jr.
As to Thomas' "pain in the butt name doppleganger, Thomas Paine" note the two issues found on his wiki page as to his claim to fame:
He became notorious because of his pamphlet The Age of Reason (1793–94), in which he advocated deism, promoted reason and freethinking, and argued against institutionalized religion in general and Christian doctrine in particular.
Loyalists vigorously attacked Common Sense; one attack, titled Plain Truth (1776), by Marylander James Chalmers, said Paine was a political quack[28] and warned that without monarchy, the government would "degenerate into democracy"WHAT!? He may have been a pain in the butt to many back in his day, butt it led to progress... we should all be pain in the butt and quack just like him.
In 1777, Paine became secretary of the Congressional Committee on Foreign Affairs.Note the addition to the "777/Boeing 777" pattern-cluster.
