Decided to investigate 9/9/1899 and 9/9/19999
Note the following under Notable Deaths re the 9/9/1999 wiki page:
- 1899 – Waite Hoyt, American baseball player and sportscaster (d. 1984)
Waite Charles Hoyt (September 9, 1899 – August 25, 1984)August 25th, the day of Waite's death is the same day as my grand daughter's birthday, hence an addition to the "Targeting Family Birthdays" pattern-cluster. Note the following etymology:
wait (n.) early 13c., "a watcher, onlooker," from Old North French wait, Old French gaite, from gaitier (see wait (v.)). From late 14c. as "an ambush, a trap" (as in lie in wait).
wait (v.) c.1200, "to watch with hostile intent, lie in wait for," from Old North French waitier "to watch" (Old French gaitier, Modern French guetter), from Frankish *wahton (cf. Dutch wacht "a watching," Old High German wahten, German wachten "to watch, to guard;" Old High German wahhon "to watch, be awake," Old English wacian "to be awake;" see wake (v.)). General sense of "remain in some place" is from late 14c.; that of "to see to it that something occurs" is late 14c. Meaning "to stand by in attendance on" is late 14c.; specific sense of "serve as an attendant at a table" is from 1560s. Related: Waited; waiting.
HOYT: rom an English surname which was derived from Middle English hoit "stick", originally a nickname for a thin person.Reminds me of the "Thin man/Bomb" pattern-cluster, so the communication is ... wait on the bomb... or watch out for the bomb?! Of course the "bomb" could be literal or metaphoric.
