10 Notable Smiths Die in March Beats the Audds

Another notable Smith has been added to Wikipedia's Death in 2013's list.  The total then is 8 notable Smith's who died during the month of March, and when taking into consideration the surnames Ferre and Herrero, which both mean "Smith" in other languages, then the total is actually 10.
  1.  Ronnie Smith, 64, American Olympic champion (1968) sprinter.[8] (March 28, 1949 – March 31, 2013)
  2. Jay Smith, 34, Canadian guitarist (Matt Mays).[33]
  3.  Bobby Smith, 76, American singer (The Spinners), complications of influenza and pneumonia.[192]
  4.  Tommy Smith, 75, American jockey, won 1965 Grand National.[412]
  5.  Hobart Muir Smith, 100, American herpetologist.[430]
  6.  Toren Smith, 52, Canadian manga publisher and translator.[431]
  7.  Len Smith, 86, Australian racehorse trainer, heart disease.[472]
  8. Alan Smith, 95, British World War II Spitfire fighter ace.[493]
  9. Manuel García Ferré, 83, Spanish-born Argentine cartoonist, complications of heart surgery.[1]
  10.  Subas Herrero, 69, Filipino comedian, respiratory failure.[202] (death announced on this date)
Even though "Smith" is the most popular surname in the US, the number of Smith deaths during March more than beats the audds when considering the total number of surnames out there.
It's also audd that one of the deceased, Jay Smith, played with the Matt Mays band from Cole Harbor Nova Scotia, which is nott too far from my home in Prospect Nova Scotia...  and that the surname "Mays" is the same as my first name "May" (plural)... and that Matt Mays was born on August 10th, the 222nd day of the year... now all of THAT constitutes as a definite inner twin signature!!

Note this excerpt taken from my recent March 19th post entitled, Bobby Smith R!!P 6th Notable Smith Die's in March ... :
As per the 2011 and 2012 monthly stats of Notable persons who have passed away with the surname "Smith" listed below, note the following:
Wikipedia's "Deaths in 2011" site includes in their List:
  • 22 Smiths (plus 1 Ferrero which means Smith)
Wikpedia's "Deaths in 2012" site Lists:
  • 19 Smiths
This is an average of less than 2 per month, so the 6 passing away in March 2013 is not usual.  It's interesting to  note that March is named after the God of War Mars!!
Note the following Smith deaths in 2013 re: January and February:
Number of Smith deaths from the 517 notable Deaths in January 2013:
  1.  W. Reece Smith, Jr., 87, American lawyer and academic.[206]
  2.  Yuri Schmidt, 76, Russian lawyer and human rights activist, cancer.[233]
Number of Smith deaths from the 433 notable deaths in February 2013:
  1. Bill Smith, 88, American Olympic swimmer.[119]
  2. Jimmy Smyth, 82, Irish hurler (Clare, 1948–1967).[132]
  3. Sylvia Smith, 67, British writer.[363]
Note I just completed the stats re Notable Smith Deaths in 2010 taken from the Deaths in 2010 site where I arrived at 26 Smith's.  That is for the entire year, so of the three years that I've taken the stats of , each of which contained 26 and under, the fact that 8 are recorded this month, March 2013, is truly extraordinary.  Four Smiths in a month has been the highest count in the stats that I have documented until this month where it doubled to 8 (10 taking into consideration Ferre and Herrero)!!
